On 11th May, JBCE co-organized fact-finding workshop on Environmental Due Diligence with AIM, AmCham EU, amfori, BUSINESS EUROPE and FESI.

The objective of the workshop was to Gather different perspectives from industry practitioners, policy-makers, academia and civil society on what environmental due diligence means and how it should be framed as part of an overall legal framework on human rights and environmental due diligence (HREDD), a framework which is feasible in practical terms and enables business to deliver.

Participants of the workshop shared the best practices of environment due diligence and discussed the similarities and differences between human rights  and environment due diligence.
The work on the environmental due diligence guideline in Japan was also introduced during the workshop.

JBCE will further contribute to the discussion on environment due diligence as well as human rights due diligence in upcoming EU legislation.
